Was ist Das?
Ein Sturmmörser Tiger?
![]()
some Americans
had nightmares about the Sturmtiger
it weighed 71.5 tons and the front slope plate was 6 inches thick
this vehicle was
designed for street fighting
it could blow down an entire building
your webmaster's
platoon captured one at Menden (on the Ruhr River)
only 18 were built from August to December 1944

the shell weighed 345 kg (759 pounds)

and was fired from a 380 mm mortar (15-inch gun)
the following
photographs were taken by your webmaster
on 14 April 1945 with a liberated German 35 mm camera

the
Sturmtiger carried a crew of five

it was 20 feet 7 inches long

and 11 feet 8 inches wide

the rocket
projectiles were huge
6 feet 6 inches long
but the Sturmtiger only carried 14 rounds

the
breech loaded morter
fired a short range (6200 yards) projectile

fuses for the shells were as big as your fist

this "restored
and fully operational" Sturmtiger has been moved from the
Wehrtechnik Museum in Koblenz to the Auto & Technik Museum in
Sinsheim
we don't know if this is the same tank captured by your webmaster

perhaps this
rascal can still do
25 miles per hour on the open road
10 miles per hour cross country

this
new paint job doesn't seem natural like the original camouflage
don't tell the curator but the hand operated lifting crane is
missing
